As the Republican U.S. Supreme Court hears oral arguments on a case that could restrict access nationwide to mifepristone, a medication abortion pill, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesperson Tommy Garcia issued the following statement on NRSC Chair Steve Daines, Senators Cruz, Scott and GOP Senate leaders like Thune, Cornyn and Barrasso signing an amicus brief urging the Supreme Court to restrict mifepristone access nationwide:
“Daines, Cruz, Scott, and Senate Republicans’ support for a nationwide restriction on medication abortion is another reminder of the threat a GOP controlled Senate would pose to abortion access in every part of the country. Senate Republicans have made it clear that they will use every tool at their disposal to take away women’s freedom to make their own medical decisions, and their agenda will lead every GOP Senate candidate to defeat in 2024.”
