Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokeswoman Lauren Passalacqua released the following statement on Republicans rush to fill a lifetime appointment on the Supreme Court days before the election, threatening health care protections for Americans across the country:
“Senate Republicans are wrong to make a lifetime appointment that will alter the Supreme Court for a generation just days before an election Americans are already voting in. The next justice will cast the deciding vote in the GOP’s anti-health care lawsuit and the rush to fill the vacancy with a nominee hostile to the Affordable Care Act is the GOP’s latest attack on protections for Americans with a pre-existing condition. Every Republican Senator has enabled this broken process and if they move forward with this confirmation, voters will ensure this craven power grab is their last.”
