Failed Loser Pat McCrory Struggles With Desperate Political Relaunch

GOP Braces For “Wild Primary” As Candidates Already Taking Shots At Each Other

Failed politician and “sore loser” Pat McCrory jumped into the North Carolina Senate race yesterday, kicking off an “ugly” Republican primary contest.

McCrory’s announcement was overshadowed by problematic media coverage highlighting his toxic record, the “wild primary” emerging, and new polls showing him badly trailing other potential candidates.

McCrory is already under attack from Republicans — who pointed out that “if Pat wasn’t good enough for Trump’s administration, he’s not good enough for NC” and stated “he is the furthest thing from an outsider.”

Take a look at what North Carolinians are reading and watching this week:

Charlotte Observer’s Kevin Siers: “Pat McCrory to run for the Senate, forgetting perhaps why he no longer held office in the first place”

Politics NC: “It’s very hard for me to take Pat McCrory seriously. He’s not a very bright guy and he proved as governor that he has little backbone or conviction… He’s Thom Tillis without the smarts—an ideological weather vane. Though I’m not sure he’s bright enough to have much ideology at all.”

Spectrum News: “With former Gov. Pat McCrory’s entry into the race, and other high-level Republicans eyeing a run, the GOP is bracing for a wild primary.”

Axios Charlotte: “Like it was with Tillis, the most pressing question McCrory will hear in the primary will be about how much or how little space there is between him and Donald Trump… McCrory’s relationship with HB2, the notorious law he signed that led to a nationwide boycott of North Carolina in 2016…will no doubt loom large in a general election”

Fox 46 News: “Although McCrory coined himself as a Washington outsider in his announcement video, other candidates Fox 46 spoke with today said he is the furthest thing from an outsider when it comes to politics.”

News & Observer: “Walker, who has been in the race since December, didn’t wait for McCrory to declare his candidacy before coming out swinging.”

Washington Post’s Dave Weigel: “We gotta hang up the term ‘outsider’ if a former governor and Charlotte mayor is using it”

POLITICO’s Burgess Everett: “Getting ugly in GOP NC Senate primary already…”

McClatchy: “As McCrory returns to political arena, transgender rights debates again at the fore.”

WITN 7 News: “The former North Carolina Governor who oversaw the state’s first law targeting the transgender community says he’s back. This time he’s running for a U.S. Senate seat. Pat McCrory was the Republican Governor in 2016, when House Bill 2, otherwise known as the bathroom bill, was passed…it quickly received widespread backlash and was considered a major reason Governor Roy Cooper was elected in the November election.”
