Pat Toomey is still standing with Donald Trump even after the GOP presidential nominee’s disgraceful attacks against a Gold Star family, and now he’s turning to the Koch brothers for a bailout. After voting 96 percent of the time with Koch-aligned dark money group Americans for Prosperity – at the expense of Pennsylvania families – Toomey is one of the reliable Koch votes that the billionaire network will work to keep in Washington.
The Associated Press reported from the annual Koch summit in Colorado over the weekend:
Koch has put the network’s budget at roughly $750 million through the end of 2016.
A significant portion was supposed to be directed at electing a Republican to the White House. It will instead go to helping Republican Senate candidates in at least five states: Ohio, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Wisconsin and Florida, Holden said, noting that the network has dedicated $42 million so far to television and digital advertising to benefit Republican Senate candidates.
Toomey has stood firm on his support of the GOP presidential nominee even after Trump’s latest deeply offensive remarks on the Khan family, whose son was killed while serving in the United States Army in Iraq. Toomey’s failure to stand up to Trump, and his record of putting Wall Street and other special interests ahead of Pennsylvania families, has made him one of the most endangered Republican candidates this cycle.
“The Kochs will learn that no amount of money can bail out Pat Toomey,” said Lauren Passalacqua, DSCC National Press Secretary. “His decision to put the Kochs, Wall Street and now Donald Trump ahead of Pennsylvania working families will earn him the title he deserves: ‘former U.S. Senator.’”
