In case you missed it, Kari Lake was called out for “lying” about her stance on abortion on MSNBC this weekend. Lake is already on the record celebrating the overturning of Roe v. Wade and supporting Arizona’s territorial era law that would outlaw abortion without exceptions for rape or incest and criminalize doctors who perform the procedure. Lake has previously called abortion “sacrifice” and “execution,” saying it is “not health care.”
See for yourself:
Michael Steele: “Republican Kari Lake is changing her tune on abortion in an exclusive interview with NBC News. The Arizona Senate candidate [is] now making the claim that she opposes a federal abortion ban and does not support a near total ban in Arizona. Okay.”
Symone Sanders-Townsend: “Somebody picked up that phone and said ‘Now Kari, honey you—you’re making it real difficult for yourself. Come on and get with the talking points.’”
Michael Steele: “Must be getting a little hot for you. But here’s my point on all of this: you already told us who you are, Kari. Stop lying. You know if you get to the Senate, you know what you’re voting for. So I mean, come on, just be honest. What changed? What changed? Because you weren’t in this space when you know Graham was out there announcing ‘we’re going to do a national ban’ and all the states were pushing and moving in that direction. So yeah, campaigns are campaigns, but you know, at least be honest with Arizonans and let them know where you really stand.”
