Rubio’s Unanswered Questions Before He Faces the Nation

Marco Rubio sure had a rough first week back on the campaign trail, as he was called out for going back on his word, failing to show up for work during his first term in office and using the Orlando tragedy as a springboard to launch his re-election. Even with all the horrible coverage he received though, Rubio has still left a lot of unanswered questions for Florida voters ahead of his appearance on Face the Nation tomorrow:

• His opponent and media reports have suggested he’s just using the Senate as a high-profile springboard to run for president in 2020 – will he commit to serving a full term?
• Can he promise Floridians that he’ll actually show up to work if they re-elect him, since he even missed a Foreign Relations hearing on the day of his announcement?
Reminder: Rubio missed 41 percent of Senate votes while running for President, 68 percent of his committee hearings between 2011 and November 2015, the highest absentee rate of any sitting Senator BEFORE he began running for President, and has amassed the worst attendance record of any Florida Senator in nearly 50 years.
• What has he done since the Orlando attack to prevent another mass shooting in America, since he voted against bipartisan legislation to keep guns out of the hands of suspected terrorists?
• Why is he avoiding speaking with gun safety advocates like Captain Mark Kelly?
• After being dominated by Trump in the presidential primary, how does he plan on defeating an opponent who has been deemed the “little Trump” of Florida?
• Does he still believe Trump is a “con artist” who can’t be trusted with the nuclear codes? Is he still comfortable holding a Supreme Court seat open for Trump to fill?
• Did he embellish the details of his family history to make it seem like his parents fled from Castro to benefit himself politically?
• Given the opioid crisis impacting the nation today, why did he kill a prescription drug abuse bill in Florida for political retribution?
