In response to Senators Cruz and Scott voting against even considering a bipartisan plan to avert a government shutdown, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesperson Tommy Garcia issued the following statement:
“Once again, Cruz and Scott prioritized their petty, self-serving politics instead of doing their jobs and keeping the government open. By pushing our country towards a devastating shutdown that would disrupt the services that the people of their state rely on, Cruz and Scott have given voters in Texas and Florida another reason to fire them in November.”
The DSCC previously launched an advertising campaign highlighting how Cruz and Scott’s government shutdown would threaten Social Security and raise costs.
