In response to Senators Ted Cruz and Rick Scott voting against a bipartisan plan to avoid a government shutdown, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesperson Tommy Garcia issued the following statement:
“Time and again, Cruz and Scott have pushed our country towards a devastating government shutdown that would disrupt the services the people of their state rely on, instead of joining Republicans and Democrats who voted to keep the government open. Cruz and Scott refused to do their jobs, have made it clear they’ll always put their petty, self-serving politics over what’s best for their states, and have given voters in Texas and Florida another reason to fire them in November.”
The DSCC previously launched an advertising campaign highlighting how Cruz and Scott’s government shutdown would threaten Social Security and raise costs.
