In response to Senator Cruz voting against a bipartisan plan to avoid a government shutdown, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesperson Amanda Sherman Baity issued the following statement:
“Cruz voted to shut down the government for the sake of his own petty, self-serving politics. Republicans and Democrats came together to avert this crisis – but if Cruz had his way, his government shutdown would threaten veterans’ services, raise costs for working families and cause numerous other disruptions to services Americans rely on. Cruz’s vote to shut down the government and refusal to do his job will give voters another reason to fire him in November.”
The DSCC previously launched an advertising campaign highlighting how Cruz’s government shutdown would threaten Social Security and raise costs.
