In response to Governor Scott’s weak attempt to again hide his record on opposing Medicaid coverage for hundreds of thousands of Floridians, DSCC Spokesman David Bergstein issued the following statement:
“Governor Scott bragged about his central role in crafting the GOP’s toxic healthcare agenda and backed the Republican Plan that slashes Medicaid coverage for 4.3 million Floridians, jeopardizes opioid-abuse treatment programs, and spikes costs for working families – all to give big insurance companies another handout. He’s got a long record opposing expansion – and just days ago Scott signed a budget that slashed Medicaid by hundreds of millions in order to set up a political slush fund to give his allies and cronies more taxpayer funded handouts. Scott’s announcement today is just another example of a typical, Tallahassee politician who is looking out for himself – while hardworking Floridians pay the price.”
