In response to the vote on the GOP’s toxic health care agenda in the Senate, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Spokesman David Bergstein released the following statement:
“Senators Heller and Flake voted for a bill their own Republican colleagues, including Senator McCain and Governor Sandoval, dismissed as a ‘disaster’ and a ‘fraud’ – a view shared by the American Medical Association, AARP and, critically, the voters who will hold them accountable for spiking their premiums and stripping away their coverage. We suggest they take our advice and update their resumes.”
Earlier this week, Senators Heller and Flake voted for an additional version of the GOP health care plan that increases premiums by 20 percent, imposes an age tax on older Americans and strips away coverage for pre-existing conditions. Ahead of the Senate GOP’s health care votes, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee launched radio ads on Senators Heller and Flake’s long record of voting to spike healthcare costs and strip coverage.
