Video is part of Democrats ‘Don’t Be Caught Naked’ campaign reminding Pennsylvanians voting by mail to use the secrecy envelope, ensuring ballots are not deemed ‘naked’ and disqualified
Today actor Kal Penn is releasing a new video reminding Pennsylvanians who are voting by mail to use their secrecy envelope so that their ballot is not deemed “naked” and disqualified.
The video is part of Democrats’ ‘Don’t Be Caught Naked’ voter education campaign about the steps to vote by mail, which has included a six-figure ad campaign, events in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, and earlier this month a plane flying a banner over West Philadelphia reading “COVER UP, PA! NO NAKED BALLOTS! VISIT IWILLVOTE.COM/PA.”
“We need to make sure every voice is heard. So don’t get caught naked,” says actor Kal Penn in the video. “Now hold on, let me explain what this means: If you’re voting by mail, you need to remember to put your ballot in the secrecy envelope so that it’s not deemed ‘naked,’ that’s literally what they deem it, and then they disqualify the naked ballot. So we want no naked ballots. Here are the steps that you can take to make sure that your ballot is not called naked and that your voice is heard in the midterm election.”
