In response to Senator Cruz voting against even considering a bipartisan plan to avert a government shutdown, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesperson Amanda Sherman Baity issued the following statement:
“Once again, Cruz prioritized his petty, self-serving politics instead of doing his job and keeping the government open. By pushing our country towards a devastating shutdown that would disrupt the services that his constituents rely on, Cruz has given voters in Texas another reason to fire him in November.”
The DSCC previously launched an advertising campaign highlighting how Cruz’s government shutdown would threaten Social Security and raise costs.
